Storytelling Workshops
Sharing personal stories is something we all do in life: around dinner tables, on walks, through long rambling voice memos. There is an art to crafting compelling stories, and telling stories about death, grief, and loss can feel especially challenging. In this workshop, you will practice skills for crafting personal narrative stories about death and grieving in community with other storytellers who have experienced loss. Whether the story you want to tell is the narrative of a loved one's dying, a remembrance of scenes from their life, or an exploration of the nuance and strangeness of your own grieving - your stories are welcome here.
Intro Workshops
In this 3 hour workshop, we will focus on building community, brainstorming story ideas, and introduce the fundamentals of story structure.
Participants will walk away with tools for continuing to craft their own stories, and a connection to a community of fellow storytellers interested in exploring the complex experience of grief.
We’re hosting 3 one-off intro workshops:
March 14th @ 12-3 pm ET
April 19th @ 6-9 pm ET
May 9th @ 5-8 pm ET
Storytelling Series
Through the 4 session workshop, we will focus on building community, brainstorming story ideas, and diving into the fundamentals of story structure. Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm multiple story ideas, and practice skills of listening, feedback giving, showing vs. telling, and working with change and narrative arcs. The workshop will culminate in a celebratory share out where storytellers can share one intentionally crafted story.
Participants will walk away with a crafted story, tools for future storytelling, and a connection to a community of fellow storytellers interested in exploring the complex experience of grief
The 4-part series will take place on the following Thursdays at 8pm ET / 5pm PT: March 26th, April 23rd, May 14th, and June 4th
