Join a Table

  • All tables are organized by peers, called Hosts, who have gone through a two-part training. We have Tables open to all, affinity spaces for folks who share specific loss experiences and/or identities, as well as location-based Tables for folks all in the same place! When you click a Table, you’ll see a bio for each Host, and themes they’re hoping to explore. We encourage you to read through all of the bios and descriptions and to find the table that most speaks to you.

Each Host has been trained by Dinner Party staff, where they’ve learned the ins and outs of what it means to Host; how to kickstart and sustain conversation, and navigate the kinds of interpersonal dynamics that most often come up when dealing with the many paradoxes of grief, and what it takes to foster community online.

Tables meet regularly — typically every 2-6 weeks — either in-person or virtually (via Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime, etc.) Your Table Host will reach out to you with more info leading up to your first gathering.

To sign up for a Table, you’ll be required to fill out a profile on the platform. This is our way of getting to know you and to make sure that we are a good fit for everyone joining the community. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at dinnerpartier@thedinnerparty.org at any point.

  • It depends on what you’re looking for! While we have spaces for all loss types and identities, many folks opt to join an Affinity Table with others that might better mirror their experience.

Affinity Tables are Dinner Party Tables built by, and for, people who share a particular loss experience or identity (e.g. Tables can be reserved for BIPOC, LGBTQ+; people who have lost both parents, siblings, or partners; people who have experienced suicide loss, homicide loss, or loss to addiction, etc.). You can browse ‘Tables by Affinity Space’ here!

If you are craving connection around a particular affinity and would like to Host, sign up for host training here, and please email us at hosting@thedinnerparty.org with any questions

  • Join our waitlist by filling out this form, and we'll update you when new seats become available!

Tables are made by people just like you! We highly encourage you to create the space you’re craving, just come to our 2-part Host training!
