TDP Labs co-designed and co-facilitated the opening evening of the Obama Foundation’s first summit by crafting conversation starters, training table hosts, and leading a dinner for 200 that would go deeper than elevator pitches. Barack asked Secret Service for time to be extended twice, to keep the conversation going.
When USA Today reported Erie, Pennsylvania was “the worst city for Black Americans,” the Mayor’s Office brought TDP Labs in to lead a series of dinners around racial healing. Before the reconciliation and problem-fixing could happen, the Labs team worked alongside Faith Matters Network created a space where truth could be spoken.
This Is Us
TDP Labs partnered with the writer’s room of hit television show This Is Us to surface the science of grief, and share real stories of 20 and 30 somethings living through loss and life after to inform more accurate depictions of loss in mass media.
OfferUp NeighborUp Initative
The TDP Labs team wrote the guidelines for a series of NeighborUp dinners run by the OfferUp Community Team, and facilitated dinners with community leaders in partnership with enso and the LA Neighborhood Council.
USC Education Exchange
TDP Labs facilitated a lunch and conversation with a group education leaders who operate in a highly competitive and politicized environment and feared that mistrust was inhibiting their ability to learn from one another.
In partnership with creative impact agency enso, Labs curated and facilitated a series of 12 salon-style dinners bringing leaders approaching similar issues from different vantage points together for conversation, learning, and collaboration.
American + Jewish Democracy
The Lippman Kanfer Foundation for Living Torah gathered a transpartisan group of funders to discuss the ways in which the Jewish philanthropic community can play a bigger role in protecting civil liberties in the US. The Labs team kicked off the gathering with a dinner to build trust and relate as humans before a day of planning.
Amplifer + Gates Foundation
When Amplifier, in partnership with Gates Foundation, convened a group to discuss the future of Giving Circles, Labs was brought in to host a dinner to help participants build trust and relate to one another. It was the highest rated piece of the programming.
